BEDFORD – In an action that has concerned some community members, Bedford High School officials recently gave graduation credits to students who took part in a "Day of Silence," a national school-based observance for gay rights.

Students who participated in the April 16 event refrained from speaking for the entire day -- a symbolic protest against anti-gay name-calling and bullying in schools. Bedford High School administrators decided to give Real World Learning hours -- a requirement for graduation -- to participating students.
